Middle and Senior School Sports Day

With barely ten minutes to go before the start, the 5% chance of rain forecast proved correct! However, with alterations to the programme that put the 800m runners in the early limelight, the sunshine that followed dried the grass out sufficiently for all events to go ahead. Five school records were broken across all year groups with several near misses. The field events were keenly contested as always, with spectating boys and parents providing a fitting backdrop for arenas in which competitors were fully able to demonstrate their strength and agility. The track events test speed and endurance; there were some very fast sprint races and some well-paced 800m performances. Well done to all the boys who are to be congratulated for their organisation, enthusiasm and endeavour. House spirit and a healthy rivalry between Houses was the order of the day, with plenty of quality performances for all to enjoy. There were many favourable comments concerning the boys’ good sportsmanship. Well done to all.
