Davenies was represented superbly at this year’s St. Piran’s Triathlon event by two determined teams who demonstrated both grit and skill over the course of the three disciplines; swimming, cycling and running.
The Year 5 team did exceptionally well in a race for predominantly Year 6 boys. Alex Haycock, in particular, excelled with a second place finish overall! He was 18th going through transition onto the bikes, so a fantastic effort to claw back all those places on a relatively short bike and run course.
The Year 6 team clung onto a narrow second place finish from the pool going into the bike transition. They then ran strongly as a team to keep that 2nd overall finishing place against strong opposition from St. Piran’s and eventual winners, St. John’s Beaumont.
A really good effort from all our young triathletes on a gruelling course and where attention to the smallest details of transition are vital to getting ahead.
