Junior School Sports Day reaches new heights 30th June 2016 Sport Junior School

At the second attempt and with the sun shining, Junior School Sports Day brought together all boys from Years 3 & 4 for a high-quality athletics competition and some fun Inter-House games.

The field events, including the vortex throw, long jump, high jump and an agility run, kicked off the afternoon.  Some excellent competitions were highlighted by the two high jump events: both reached epic climaxes and both recorded new school records for Danny Read (Year 4) and Ethan Horne (Year 3). A third school record was tied by Nate Morrison (Year 3) in the vortex throw.  Congratulations to all three of them, especially Danny, who broke a 24-year old record, and well done to the boys who spectated with such excellent sportsmanship and appreciation.

On the track, the sprint races, the Year 4 400m race and the Inter-House relays were interspersed with ‘all-in’ House games including Hangman, Aquarius and the obstacle course complete with ‘Run The Gauntlet’.  The boys impressed with their listening skills, enthusiasm and all tried their best for their House. Well done!

The afternoon of sport was rounded off with a formal presentation and a spectacular tea.  Outright winners were the current Junior School Sports Day champions, Cook.  Will it be your House that stops them making it three in a row next year?
