A group of 25 athletes represented the school at the annual St. John’s meeting, held at Merchant Taylors’ School.
The event got off to a fast and frantic start with both Alex Mill and Harry Tack running PBs in the U’12 and U’14 1500m respectively. The first win of the night came when Oliver Smith won the U’10 cricket ball throw with a massive 37 metres; Max Campbell showed fine form winning the U’10 100m with Travis Lewis and George Rowlands coming a close second in their respective age races.
Last year’s regional IAPS Champion, Barnaby David, came a close second to the National Champion in the shot, which school Athletics Captain, Herbie Smith, put in a stellar performance in the 300m winning by a good 30 metres!
Rueben Logan won the U’12 200m having been drawn in the tough inside lane, whilst the Year 4 relay team romped to victory in their 4 × 100m race, and there was a final win of the evening for Alex Nagele in the High Jump who followed up Charlie Farley’s victory in the same event.
In the overall event the team came third, missing out on second place by the narrowest of margins.
