Under 9s fill their plates at OPS 19th March 2016 Sport Football

Davenies U’9 A & B football teams travelled to a chilly Oratory Prep School for their annual football tournament.

Both teams played some fantastic football in short, sharp 7-minute matches.  The action was non-stop and it was great to see both teams supporting each other during the group stages.  After 6 matches for each team, the A team progressed to the cup quarter finals, while the B team entered the plate competition.

In the cup quarter final, the A team faced hosts OPS and fell behind to a very well worked free kick.  Despite dominating possession, Davenies were unable to find an equaliser and exited the cup.

The B team won their plate semi-final thanks to a golden goal in extra time.  The final, against Moulsford was a thrilling contest, with Charlie Inch the hero, equalising with a wonderful volley from 20 yards, before bundling home the winning golden goal in extra time.

All 14 boys performed wonderfully well, showcasing their footballing talents to round off an enjoyable term of football.
