A 1st XV Wasp 9th October 2015 Sport Rugby

We are delighted to announce that 1st XV Captain Barnaby David has been invited to join the Wasps development programme.  In doing so he fought off over 100 applicants impressing the coaches with both his understanding of the game and physical prowess.

Barnaby now joins a growing list of ODs who are currently in the ‘elite’ sector of the sport.  Last season’s Captain of Rugby, Jack Chapples (Shiplake), is also in the Wasps set up as is Cameron King (St. Edward’s).  2013 Captain Noah Lucas, currently living in Washington DC, was recently asked to join USA Rugby’s Academy having worked with the Fijian 7s super star, Waisele Serevi, over the summer!

A number of ex pupils are also making waves in their school 1st XVs.  AJ Woodland is enjoying his time at scrum half for St. Edward’s; Xavier Garnham has been in impressive form for Haileybury, as have Henry Birdsey, Ben Arnold and Daniel Deakin at Shiplake College.  Former 1st XV player Finn O’Toole (Claires Court) has recently been named in the Buckinghamshire County U’16 team.

At the top of the sport Tom Howe, brother of our current GAP Student and ex 1st XV Captain Toby (both Shiplake College), is currently on loan at Jersey RFC from Wasps.  Tom was also a part of the England team at the recent Under 20 World Cup.  Ross Neal (RGS) has also been heavily involved with pre-season training at London Irish and will be spending this season at Esher RFC with fellow old boy Ben Wood RGS), who is also attached to Harlequins.
