Swimming v High March 2nd July 2015 Sport Swimming

The 5th Annual Davenies-High March end-of-year gala met all expectations with both boys and girls showing just how much progress they have made with their swimming this year.

With High March girls’ strength in Year 6 and Davenies’ strength in Year 3 it was always going to come down to which way fortunes would swing in Years 4 and 5.

Swimming records can be broken in the same way you wait for a bus…you can wait years for one to come along and when it does another one quickly follows!  Congratulations to Matthew Telling who narrowly missed out on the IM record, only to take the Year 6 2-length Breaststroke record moments later in a time of 33.36s.  Three races later Alex Moore steps up to say ‘anything you can do…’ and in 13.26s he breaks the Year 3 1-length Freestyle record that had previously been held for 13 years!

With thanks to High March for another friendly, competitive and, yes, at times ear-piercing gala, Davenies’ swimmers can sign off for the summer break in buoyant mood!  Final result: Davenies 188, High March 164.
