[S]wimming in our fabulous indoor pool takes place all year round.
[W]ith a 0.9m shallow end all boys from
Reception – Year 5 can receive a swimming lesson a week: our aim is for all boys to swim a length unaided by
the time they reach the end of Year 2.
[I]ncluded within the PE and Games programme is the opportunity for
Year 6, 7 and 8 to swim also.
[M]aximum time in the Early Years is spent developing confidence and good stroke
technique to ensure that the boys are best placed to take on later opportunities.
[M]embers of the swimming
coaching staff regularly attend courses to keep up-to-date with good practice and update their mandatory
rescue award test; they will often be seen in the water giving invaluable one-to-one teaching time.
keen that we continue to be involved in the Division 10 Swimming League for Years 4 – 6 (currently involving
20 teams) and to give opportunities for boys to further their gala expertise, we run extensive squad sessions.
[N]autical enthusiasts are welcome on Monday, Thursday and Friday mornings.
[G]iving extra-curricular time for
those boys and relay teams wishing to enter the IAPS Swimming Championships is important; in recent years
Davenies has been well-represented on finals day at K2 in Crawley.
