Pastoral Care Reception - Year 2
Pastoral Care is everything within the Pre-Prep; if a boy is unhappy or uncomfortable he cannot learn.
Our staff nurture caring relationships with the boys in their class but, the boys also know that they may talk to any Pre-Prep teacher or to me at any time. Being the first person they see in the morning and the last one they see at the end of the day, I am accessible to both boys and parents and am well-positioned to allay fears.
Circle Time is an integral part of our week, Pre-Prep assemblies address a variety of issues, and boys are given plenty of opportunities to consider the Golden Rules in order to choose for themselves the correct path to travel.
The Pre-Prep provides a compassionate environment where boys are encouraged to learn to the best of their abilities, safe in the knowledge that the setbacks they experience are handled sensitively and turned into positives; their successes (both in and outside of school) are praised justifiably.
My role, as Head of Pre-Prep on the Davenies Pastoral Team, is pivotal in passing on information pertaining to the well-being of the boys within the Department, and to provide an insight to boys once they have left the Pre-Prep.
